For those of you who used to read my tumblr, you’re probably familiar with Kevin Lien. I posted about him when he did an English cover of Taeyang’s “Wedding Dress” last year, a cover which, in my opinion, propelled him to YouTube fame. He’s not as famous as say, Kurt Schneider or Alex Goot, but he’s definitely getting there. I wouldn’t be surprised if his popularity soared this year. He recently won the Top Blip online competition, so congratulations to him! I personally thought that his cover was a lot better than Taeyang’s own English version. (Sorry Taeyang! I love you, but I’m only stating my opinion!) It’s absolutely amazing so be sure to listen to it if you haven’t already.
One of the videos he posted onto the Top Blip website was his cover for Katy Perry’s “Firework.” I know, I know. Some of you are probably sick of this song but believe me, his version for it is pretttttay good. Although it’s not my favorite cover from him (that would be his Wedding Dress cover, if you didn’t figure that out already), it’s still a beautiful song to listen to. The cello part is particularly well done. Check out the video below to listen! FYI: He does give a small thank you speech in the beginning and the actual cover doesn’t start until about 45 seconds in.
