Ack, this isn’t good news! Chun Jung Myung, our beloved PIE, recently fell off his horse not once, but twice while filming for MBC’s current Wed-Thurs drama, The Duo. He was injured during the live filming on May 12th, but his agency didn’t announce his injury until yesterday. With two more final episodes left to air, the entire cast and crew are on a tight filming schedule, so it’s been difficult for him to rest.
Despite injuring his neck and spine, and his injury deemed somewhat severe, PIE has been unable to get the much-needed rest in order to complete the last two episodes. He’s currently wearing a neck brace, taking pain killers, and also getting psychotherapy treatments to help him withstand the pain, though a doctor was consulted and he was told that he must not engage in strenuous activity. His agency representative has said that despite the unfortunate injury, PIE is going to persevere so that the shooting will be completed before the finale episodes go on air.
Thank God there’s only a few more days left of live filming! And here is one of the great examples of the downside to live shooting vs. pre-produced dramas. I’ve postponed my Duo watch until later this year, when I hope there will be a dry spell of good dramas so that I can catch up on gems from the previous years. Of course, I’m all for it if that doesn’t happen. You won’t hear me if the rest of the 2011 line-up continues to blow me away. I suppose I’ll save it for a weekend marathon. I can only live without doses of PIE for so long.
As for PIE’s decision to continue filming, I suppose any actor would want to finish a drama shoot, particularly with the end in sight. But at the same time, this fall could affect him for the rest of his life if not properly treated. I’m just worried for him. The drama means nothing if you’re hurt, dear PIE. Take care of yourself, y’hear?
